The three co-directors will live in the CASL house and serve as the primary spokespeople and representatives for the organization. Co-directors facilitate meetings, greet visitors, work with volunteers, and generally oversee the project. The Co-directors receive a stipend per month.
PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR
Responsibilities include creating press releases for newspapers, radio, and television stations; exploring diverse methods of group advertisement.
EDUCATION COORDINATOR
This coordinator works with faculty members interested in using CASL for a course (i.e., field trips, workshops, studios, student projects) and soliciting interest and involvement when appropriate. This coordinator works closely with the Curriculum Officer at the Ecological Design Center to expand “green curriculum.”
DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
This coordinator oversees CASL’s fundraising efforts, which includes event planning and grant writing.
INTERIOR DESIGN OPPORTUNITIES
The interior design team consists of talented students from the School of Architecture and Allied Arts. If you are interested in architecture these positions present the opportunity to explore the field. If you are an architecture student then join the interior design team to expand your low-impact design knowledge. The interior design team offers these positions: refine the existing design, create passive systems (living wall, ground source heat pump system, etc), design interior spaces and design the landscape.
CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES
Are you interested in hands on work? Then join our new construction team that will facilitate the construction process during the next year. Work hands on with contractors renovating the current house. Then help construct the additional wing that will include a solar panel and green roof. Weekly Work Parties are every Saturday from 11-3 at 1801 Moss St.
Time Commitment
The time commitment of these positions varies for each coordinator based on what projects you take on and how much volunteer effort you can utilize. Minimally, all of the coordinators meet once or twice a week (2-4 hours total) and have weekly duties to perform.
Compensation
The compensation for this work is riches, in all ways except for financial ones. The co-directors are the only position that receives a small stipend. CASL coordinators learn valuable experience synonymous to organizing and running a non-profit. CASL coordinators will make a valuable contribution to students’ environmental awareness on campus and help further the University’s commitment to sustainable practices. Academic credit through a variety of departments can be earned for this work if you require credit towards your degree. The only position that is stipend is the co-directors.
Housing for the Co-Directors?
Applicants for co-directors are asked to realize that, while CASL has officially obtained a house, when it will be ready for habitation is still to be determined. We are diligently working to have the CASL house running as soon as possible, but this depends on how quickly the planned remodel and addition to the existing house proceed. Our CASL house may or may not be ready for co-director habitation during the coming school year. At this time, we are not asking for firm commitments to live in the house, but if you have questions just come talk to us.
Please send your resume, including your desired position and projected graduation date, to ASUO Suite 4 or e-mail to Casl@uoregon.edu with the subject line ‘applicant.’
If you have questions please contact CASL at Casl@uoregon.edu with the subject line ‘applicant.’
